Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him, saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. Luke 18:35-43 (NKJ)
Jericho is a place of great spiritual battle, where your faith and strength in the Lord shall be tested. It took faith for Joshua and his generation to conquer it. The wall of Jericho stood before them a great hindrance from invading the city, yet they did not looked to the wall and become discouraged; but they look to the Lord their God. And got instruction from Him on how to conquer it (see Jos.6). And they conquered and spoiled it. That was exactly what the blind man did. He cried to the Lord Jesus for his need and his hindrances – the people who stood before him and told him to shut up. But he did not respond nor argue with them. Instead he focused on the Lord and cried out the more. The Lord heard his cry and stood still, the rest is history.
The Bible declares “I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.” Ps 57:2 (KJV)
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Ps 50:15(KJV)
“This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” Ps 34:6 (KJV)
Many times there are a hindrance that stands between you and your miracles. Some times that hindrance can be you yourself , through doubt, unbelief, sins and so on, so check yourself (see Ps 66:18-19; Ps. 139:23-24). Also avoid being a hindrance to others. Instead be a blessing.
Focus on the Lord not on your problems. When you do that the Lord moves your mountains, before you.
“This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” (Zech 4:6-7, NKJV)
