Ex 14:13-14, Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace,” (NKJV).
Have you ever found yourself in situations that it seemed impossible for you to overcome or get out of? I have and the Children of Israel were. They left Egypt. Their number was about three million. As they came to the edge of the desert, in front of them was the mighty Red Sea, in their left and right were sinking sands and behind them, a mighty Egyptian army speeding toward them. There was no way to escape. They were in a situation that seemed hopeless and totally disastrous. Yet, for the Lord their God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel (Jacob) the situation did not concern or bother Him. Actually it was a great opportunity to show His mighty power over the enemy, on behalf of His people Israel.
Therefore, the man of God Moses who understood this exhorted and encouraged God’s people not to be afraid but to Stand still and see the salvation of the LORD which He was about to accomplish for them that very day. He told them, “the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14: 13-14, NKJV).
In the second chronicles twenty, we read of a similar situation where great multitudes came against God’s people. Like Moses, King Jehoshaphat stood before the Lord and prayed and the Lord answered, “Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's. Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! 2 Chronicles 20:15-16). The scripture says as the children of Israel believed God’s word and began praising Him, "the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another,” (2 Chron. 20:21-23, NKJV).
Praise and prayer stirs and moves the Lord our God to do something awesome on our behalf. The Lord Himself says, “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; ------ I will show the salvation of God," (Ps. 50:23, NKJV)
In the book of Acts, we read the story of the Apostles Paul and Silas. “Then the multitude rose up together against them and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, the jailer put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed," (Acts 16:22-26).
Dear saints of God it does not matter what kinds of difficult situations you are facing or may face. The bible says, “for with God nothing is impossible,” and it also says, “all things are possible for him believes,” (see Luke 1:37; Mark 9:23).
Believe God and stand still. The Lord God will do what He promised. He will show you His salvation in a mighty way.
I shall not be moved
Do not be moved or be shaken but stand still and see the salvation of God. The sweet psalmist King David said, “He (the Lord) only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” (Ps 62:6-8, NKJV). Again he said, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident,” (Ps 27:1-3, NKJV).
In Psalm 125:1-2, says, “Those who trust in the LORD Are like Mount Zion which cannot be moved but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever,” (NKJV).
Pharaoh King of Egypt and his mighty army came against God’s people at the Red Sea, yet the Lord made them fish’s food. (See Exodus 14) An army of multitudes came against Israel at Hazazon Tamar. The Lord caused them to slaughter each other and claim the great spoils for God’s people. (See 2 Chron. 20:21-23, 24-29 NKJV). Paul and Silas, God’s servants, were badly beaten and imprisoned. They were in the very harshest of conditions yet instead of groaning and mourning or complaining, they decided to stand still and see the salvation of their God. In the middle of the night, they began praying and praising the Lord. As they say the rest is history. The Lord came to that prison with power and might. Suddenly there was such a great earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. Immediately, all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed. The keeper of the prison, with his household, believed in the Lord Jesus and Paul and Silas were released with apologies. (See Acts 16:25-40). The Lord Our God is an awesome God.
Stand still, believe and you shall see the salvation of the Lord your God. With Him, nothing shall be impossible.
