“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless,” (Gen. 17:2, NKJV).
El Shaddai – “The All Sufficient One, The Strong Satisfier, and The God of more than enough.
Have you ever found yourself before God as Abram was? You may ask in what way or doing what? Well, that is a good question. You see Abram was a man whom God had called for higher proposes. The Lord came to him and told him to come out of Ur of the Chaldeans saying; “Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Gen. .12:1-3 (NKJ)
Sometimes when the Lord calls people for His divine purpose also relocates their geographical location. we read this not only in the cases Abraham, but also in many places through scripture and throughout history to the present.
Even though Abram did know where he was going, by faith departed from there trusting his guide- God. Leaving behind his country and his people and relatives. He, Abraham did not have a map or GPS, but God. The Lord says, in psalm 32: 8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye,” Again in Isaiah 48:17 He says, “Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “ I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go,”
The scripture says, “So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan,” (Gen 12:4-5, NKJV).
He, Abram was seventy – five years old when he left his country by receiving great promises from the Lord. The promises are as follows; 1) I will make of you a great nation, 2) I will bless you Make your name great, 3) You shall be a blessing: 4) I will bless them that bless you (favor), 5) curse him that curses you (protection), 6) In you shall all families of the earth be blessed.
They are great promises, but by the time God came to Abram in chapter 17 of Genesis, Abram was 99 years old. He was old, and also discouraged man. Not only that he has gone in different direction than God’s plan for him. Sarai lost patience pushed him to sleep with her maid, Hagar. Hagar was young and good-looking woman, Abram had no any complain. Then she conceived Ishmael and hell broke loose. (See Gen.16) soon after Ishmael was born yet the trouble continued. There was nothing satisfying or worth doing what Abram and Sarai did, but void and trouble brought to them. The work of the flesh always brings emptiness and trouble.
Sometimes the consequence of its effect goes beyond oneself. I know waiting is not easy, yet the Lord who gave those precious promises is faithful and will fulfill them as He promised you. So be good courage and wait on the Lord.
Ezekiel 12: 25 says, “For I am the Lord; I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall be performed (come to pass); it shall be no more delayed or prolonged, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and will perform it,”
Short cut does not work nor brings satisfaction. Somebody may say I waited, waited nothing is happening and have to do something. That is exactly what Abraham and Sarah thought and did. The fruit of that was not good. The Lord came to Abraham to fulfill what He had promised him. Dear brother and sister the Lord does not disappoint anyone who are waiting for His help. Therefore be a good courage, your miracles are on the way, keep believing and waiting on God. The “El shddai – the Almighty God ( The Strong Satisfier) is your God and Father He will satisfy and bless you greatly.
The Psalmist said, “I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD,” (Psalm 40 1-3).
