Ps 46:10, Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Have you noticed the people who are waiting for bus at the bus station? Some of them you will see sitting quietly and waiting, some standing conversing with one another, others reading books, or listening music, and lately playing with their phones. But also if you carefully notice you will see a person or persons who are restless while they wait for the bus. You see them walking back and forth. They look very tense. We know the bus is coming to that station and will pick those people up. Sometimes it may be a little late yet it is coming.
Being restless and tense is not the right way wait for a bus, for the bus of life. The English word be still or still means, “immobile, at rest, clam, quiet, at a standstill. The same word, in Hebrew is almost the same, “ to cast down; to let fall; to let hang down; then, to cease, to be relaxed, the idea of leaving matters with God, or of being without anxiety about the issue.
Psalm 55:22- says, “ Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Amplified bible says, “Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).
1 Peter 5 puts in this way, “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully,” (Amplified 1 Peter 5:7).
The man of God, Moses said to terrified people of God at Red Sea, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace,” (Exodus 14:13, 14, NKJV).
Philippines 4. 6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus,” (NKJV).
Be still, the Lord God knows your situation and He is coming to help you. It does no matter whether your situation is small or big, with God nothing is impossible. (Luke 1:37). So is for those who believe in Him (Mark 9:23).
