"Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them,* (Isa 3:10, NKJV)
Nothing takes the Lord God by surprise in whatever is taking place in the world today or tomorrow. He is the God who knows the end from the beginning. (see Isaiah 46:10 ). Today we hear and see what is happening around the world such as the economic crisis*s, famines, wars and rumors of wars, pestilences, and earthquakes, climate change *such as droughts & floods. All these and other calamities that are taking place are foretold in the Scriptures. The Lord Jesus calls them, *the beginning of sorrows,* (see Matt.24:6-8). These signs are signs of end times, which the Bible calls the last days, (See 2 Timothy 3:1; and 2 Peter 3:3).
These signs signify
1) The second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." (Luke 21:25-29).
He is coming for His people. “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thess. 4:16-18). 2 Thessalonians 2:1says, “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,” (2 Thess. 2:1; Mt. 24:3-39, NKJV). The Lord Jesus himself said, “Look, I am coming soon,” (TLB) New king James version says, “Behold, I am coming quickly.”
2) It is a sign of our redemption:
When we see these end time signs taking place, according to God’s word, it is a sign that the time of our redemption is near.
Now the word redemption used here does not refer about our salvation from sin or acceptance of Jesus Christ our savior and Lord; but refers to our departure into eternal glory and home, to heaven. “Now when these things begin to happen (the end time signs), look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near," (Luke 21:28).
The blessed Lord Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also,” (John 14:1-3, NKJV). 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 says, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thess. 4:16-18). Believers from all corners of the earth will be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air and be with Him in heaven forever and ever. (2 Thessalonians 2:1 NKJV). Get ready, the Lord is coming soon and we are going home.
As believers in Christ Jesus, We should not be shaken or moved by them like the rest of the world. The Lord is our shield and our dwelling place. He knows well how to take care His people. The Lord’s care and concern for His people was clearly demonstrated in the Biblical accounts of how He freed the children of Israel from captivity in Egypt. While the Egyptians were going through the great judgments of God, God*s people in the same country just a few miles away in Goshen, where safe and secure; blessed and prospered.
And when the time came to take them (the children of Israel) out of Egypt, so they could travel to Canaan - the land flowing with milk and honey, He gave them His favor to plunder the Egyptians. And this was not by force but rather by the free will of the Egyptians, who were more than willing to give what the children of Israel asked of them. This happened because the Lord put it in the hearts of the Egyptians to do so. (See Exodus 11:1-3, Exodus 12:35-36).
The Lord knows how to bless His people, and transferred great wealth to them from the Egyptians * a debt that was owed for over 400 years of slavery. God is not unjust that His people would leave empty handed after so many years of hard labors. The scriptures say, “The wealth of the sinners are stored up for the righteous,” (Prov. 13:22). At that very moment, Egypt was not only in a great recession but it was also on the verge of total destruction by the Lord God. Yet in spite what was happening in Egypt, God protected and blessed His dear people. In the same way the Lord God protected, blessed, prospered and favored the children of Israel in the land of Egypt, He will do the same for you, His blood bought people today.
The world will continue shaking as is recorded in the word of God. Scripture promises that “Yet once more" God will shake earth and heaven and plainly shows that the created things will be shaken and removed, so that the things that cannot be shaken will remain. (Heb 12:27, TEV). He will shake everything that must be shaken, including those things in the lives of believers - things that will hinder us from honoring the Lord; things that will hinder us from being what the Lord God called us to be and do.
The Lord will do this for our own benefit so we should not be judged with the world, (see 1 Corinthians 11:32). Yet, in spite of all these, the glory, blessing, (prosperity), protection of the Lord will be upon people of God.
Isaiah 60:1-4 says, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising,* (KJV). The scriptures say, “Those who love the Lord will shine like the sun that comes out in full strength,” (Judges 5:31). Therefore, it is time to rise and shine.
